Captain Jon Fosse and First Mate Brenda Fosse are Owner Operators

Jon grew up in Minnesota being raised to love the outdoors, adventure and travel. He has a degree in biology and moved to Alaska in the mid-70’s where he was owner operator of a salmon drift gillnet boat for eleven years on the offshore waters of the Copper River and Prince William Sound in the summers, and a journeyman insulator in the winters. In Minnesota he was a professional picture framer and ran an art gallery. Jon was also a stay at home Dad for three years while Brenda worked full time. In the mid-80’s Brenda and Jon moved to Colorado where they started a custom cabinet shop and later a custom architectural wood turning business.

Jon has taken numerous sailing courses and is an ASA (American Sailing Association) instructor. He also holds a United States Coast Guard 50 ton near coastal Captain's license allowing him to Captain an inspected passenger vessel with 150 people up to 200 miles offshore. FINNESSA is his dream boat. He loves to have others take the wheel and help them to feel the thrill of helming a powerful blue water cruiser. His awe of nature and creation inspires his hobbies of travel, gourmet cooking, furniture making, wood bowl turning and gardening. His home re-modeling skills of electrical wiring, plumbing and trim work have helped him with boat projects, maintenance and repair.

Brenda enjoys cooking new and interesting dishes to delight a wide range of tastes. With a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's in Occupational Therapy, her previous careers include working as a disability examiner for Social Security in Denver and in Anchorage for 9 years and spending sixteen years working in the public schools as an Occupational Therapist in northern Colorado. Family is extremely important to Brenda and she has loved her role as a parent to a son and daughter now in their mid-20's. Reading, playing games, spending time out of doors and meeting new people help her recharge her batteries. Brenda is certified to bareboat charter captain through the International Sail and Powerboat Association and has taken additional classes in passage-making and navigation. She has enjoyed sailing with family and friends, but found sailing with Jon to be the best of all worlds.
